Musician Highlight:
The Mike Fritz Trio

The Mike Fritz Jazz Trio pays tribute to The “Great American Songbook”, the canon of the most important and influential American popular songs and jazz standards from the early 20th century that have stood the test of time in their life and legacy. Often referred to as “American Standards”, the songs published during the Golden Age of this genre include those popular and enduring tunes from the 1920s to the 1950s that were created for Broadway theater, musical theater, and Hollywood musical film. However, the trio also plays more contemporary styles, connecting jazz’s bedrock past with its present and exciting future.

The band consists of Mike Fritz on piano and vocals, Paul Lawrence on bass, and Michael Leavey on guitar. The trio currently play in several venues in MetroWest, including Hearth in Needham, Horse Thieves Tavern in Dedham and Exhibit A Brewery in Framingham. All are alumni of the Berklee College of Music and have been performing professionally for years.
