The Sumiao Hunan Kitchen team recently escaped to Cape Cod to celebrate our restaurant’s ninth anniversary together. It was a wonderful opportunity to relax, reflect on how far we’ve come, and appreciate the team that makes Sumiao so special. Now, we’re back in Kendall Square, refreshed and ready for an exciting August!

This August, we’re celebrating World Baijiu Day on August 9 with two special ways to discover China’s most iconic spirit. Sip our featured seasonal baijiu cocktail, crafted with an East-meets-West twist, or explore a baijiu flight highlighting a range of distinctive aromas and flavors. Whether you’re a curious first-timer or already a baijiu fan, join us in Kendall Square and experience the world’s most-consumed spirit in a fresh and approachable way.
Eastern Sun 旭日东方- Smoky baijiu and mezcal meet juicy passion fruit and lime for a sunrise-inspired sip. Imperial Lavender 御苑薰香 – Elegant and zesty, this gin and elderflower drink is perfectly balanced with lavender and honey undertone Hunan Sunset 湘江日落 (Mocktail) – A vibrant, booze-free beauty bursting with pineapple, mango green tea, and grenadine for that perfect golden-hour glow.

Boston’s most anticipated dining event is back, and we’re excited to showcase the bold, vibrant flavors of Hunan cuisine. Join us for a three-course lunch for $32, featuring soup, an appetizer, and an entrée, or enjoy a three-course dinner for $46 with an appetizer, entrée, and dessert.
Our chef-curated menus feature guest favorites such as Grandma’s Pork with Shang Gan and White Pepper, Yellow River Fish, and Sumiao Tofu Pot, followed by sweet finishes including Douhua Blossom and Shanghai Crispy Puff.

Musician Highlight - Aditi Malhotra

Aditi Malhotra is a vocalist, composer and educator from New Delhi, India. With an early background in Hindustani Classical Music, and later influences in Soul, Jazz and Brazilian music, she has performed at notable venues such as the NCPA Mumbai, Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Panama Jazz Festival, and Festival da Jazz, Switzerland. A two-time winner of the ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award, Aditi seeks to make music that allows her to connect with her roots but defies any genre classifications, and is interested in exploring themes of identity, belonging and home through her writing.
