On May 16, Sumiao Hunan Kitchen was honored at the 4th Annual Restaurant Industry Golden Awards in Chicago — one of the most prestigious recognitions in the North American Chinese restaurant industry. The awards celebrate restaurateurs and restaurants dedicated to advancing and preserving Chinese culinary culture, and we are deeply honored to be recognized among them.
Our founder Sumiao Chen received the “Outstanding Restaurateur” award and our restaurant was also recognized with the “Outstanding Restaurant” award.
From earning a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand to receiving national industry recognition, each milestone reflects the same commitment: a passionate kitchen, a dedicated team, and a relentless pursuit of excellence in hospitality and Hunan cuisine.

World Cup Fever Is Coming to Sumiao

This June & July, the World Cup excitement is coming to Massachusetts, and Sumiao Hunan Kitchen is ready to join the celebration. As passionate fans of the beautiful game, we’ll be showing select key matches at the restaurant so guests can enjoy the energy, competition, and community together over bold Hunan flavors and tropical cocktails.

Musician Highlight: Aditi Malhotra

Aditi Malhotra is a vocalist, composer and educator from New Delhi, India. With an early background in Hindustani Classical Music, and later influences in Soul, Jazz and Brazilian music, she has performed at notable venues such as the NCPA Mumbai, Kennedy Center in Washington DC, Panama Jazz Festival, and Festival da Jazz, Switzerland. A two-time winner of the ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award, Aditi seeks to make music that allows her to connect with her roots but defies any genre classifications, and is interested in exploring themes of identity, belonging and home through her writing.
