Welcome, Summer!

WeChat Version in Chinese:

June is full of celebrations. From Dragon Boat Festival (June 3rd), to Father’s Day (June 19th), and several delicious food holidays, this month is jam-packed with fun. As we enter a new month, we’re already prepping for these two big days. Plus, our summer menu is coming! We can’t wait!

Dragon Boat Festival

Celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival has been a local tradition in Cambridge since 1979. It has transformed old traditions into an exciting sporting and cultural event, right here on the Charles River. Arts and crafts, tasty food! We are so excited that the celebration of the Dragon Boat Festival is back on June 12th this year. SHK has supported this annual event and sponsored a number of boat teams from 2016-2019. We’re happy to be sponsoring the Wuhan team this year and making a donation to support the medical school and students from Sumiao’s second hometown Wuhan 武汉.

Celebrating Food Traditions at Sumiao

Sumiao is keeping the tradition of this multicultural festival by offering three flavors of zongzi as well as salted duck eggs and steamed bao to our guests. These are traditional celebratory foods for the Dragon Boat Festival:
● Red Bean Zongzi 豆沙甜粽
● Mushroom + Pork Zongzi 香菇肉粽
● Plain Black/White Rice Zongzi 黑白糯米粽
● Salted Duck Egg 红心咸鸭蛋
● Steamed Pork Bao 德园肉包
From June 2-4, we will be selling zongzi and salted duck eggs for pickup/delivery and for our dine-in guests. Quantities are limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Up next we’ve got Father’s Day. Celebrate dad with a meal at Sumiao or takeout to go, picnic style! Later this month we’ll share some of the favorite dishes and drinks from the fathers here at Sumiao.
